Winter Reflections

Flat calm winter days in the Outer Hebrides, when the low sun casts reflections in a landscape that is more sky and water than land.

A precious stillness in what is so often a wild and windy landscape

On a beautiful day between Christmas and New Year we went for a walk on the east side of North Uist and followed the shoreline around some tidal bays and inlets.

Sheep stand and stare

Eaval reflections

Eaval reflected in the stretch of water that separates the island of Grimsay from the rest of North Uist

House on an island

The sun was too low to reflect the house but I liked the way it was still catching the white chimney stacks and reflecting them in the water.

And finally, Loch Scadabhagh (or Scadavay), North Uist

and an appropriate passing place sign nearby!

Sàmhach – Quiet

    1. Wishing you a happy and peaceful New Year!
It was very peaceful when we were out on those walks. There was hardly a sound except when birds occasionally landed or took off from the water.
